Q: Tell us about a book that has had a lasting impact on you.
A: The House of Mirth. Is it my favorite book? I’m not sure, but it’s definitely one of them. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book so tragic and yet so quietly suspenseful. There is something about Lily Bart making one bad decision after another that is completely compelling. Often when I need to make a choice, I ask myself, “What would Lily Bart choose?” and then go with the opposite!
