We can’t believe how many great books are being made into movies next year. Get your patrons’ year off to a good start by creating a display of the titles they need to read before going to the movie theater in 2017!

Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race, Hardcover and Paperback, by Margot Lee Shetterly – An all-star cast shines in the film, but Shetterly’s book will give readers a deeper look into the lives of these previously unknown women who were the human computers in the early years of the space program.

Fences, Movie Tie-In and Paperback, by August Wilson – Denzel Washington and Viola Davis bring August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning play to the big screen in a movie that is already garnering Oscar buzz.

It, Paperback and Mass Market Paperbound, by Stephen King – King will be responsible for a new generation’s fear of clowns when Pennywise comes back to life in this adaptation starring Bill Skarsgård. This story about a monster that exploits its victims’ fears is a classic in the horror genre for a reason.

Live by Night, Paperback and Mass Market Paperbound, by Dennis Lehane – Ben Affleck will star in the film adaptation of Lehane’s fast-paced Prohibition Era novel about one man’s life of crime in Boston.

Tulip Fever by Deborah Moggach – A married woman has an affair with the artist who her husband hires to paint her portrait in Moggach’s lavish novel. The visually stunning movie adaptation features Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan, Judi Dench, and Christopher Waltz.

The Zookeeper’s Wife: A War Story, Paperback and Movie Tie-In Edition, by Diane Ackerman – Jessica Chastain stars in the film version of Ackerman’s bestselling book about Jan and Antonina Zabinski who saved the lives of 300 Jews from the Nazis by hiding them in empty animal cages in the Warsaw Zoo.

The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon, Paperback and Movie Tie-In Edition, by David Grann – Grann takes readers on a journey to find out the fate of explorer Percy Fawcett who disappeared in 1925 on his journey into the Amazon to find the lost city. Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson, and Sienna Miller will star in the film.

The Gunslinger, Paperback and Mass Market Paperbound, by Stephen King – The world of King’s genre-bending Dark Tower series will come alive in The Dark Tower starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. Readers new to the series should begin with the series-starter The Gunslinger.
